Equality Objectives & Compliance Statement

Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) Compliance

At Queensway School, we are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity and fostering an inclusive culture where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. In line with the Equality Act 2010, we actively work to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
  • Foster good relations between different groups within our school community.

Our values of Respect, Kindness and Resilience underpin this commitment and guide our approach to creating a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for all.

Equality Objectives

  • Ensure all learners have equal access to a rich, broad, balanced and relevant curriculum though teaching and learning that promotes equality.
  • Eliminate any discrimination, harassment and victimisation, so that no one is unfairly or illegally disadvantaged as a consequence of their age, colour, race, ethnic or national origin, disability, gender, gender identify, sexual orientation, faith, religion, religious beliefs or socio-economic background.
  • Recognise and celebrate diversity within our community and, at the same time promotes community cohesion.
  • Enable our pupils and their parents / carers to be fully involved in the provision made by the school.
  • Ensure that within the school’s financial budget, adequate funding is provided to underpin this policy and that intervention, and positive and preventative action is funded where possible and necessary.
  • Promote a strong sense of belonging so that every pupil, family, member of staff and visitor feels welcomed, respected, valued and able to participate fully in school life.

Monitoring and Review

We review progress against these objectives through:

  • Analysis of pupil achievement, attendance and behaviour data.
  • Monitoring participation in the wider life of the school.
  • Pupil, parent and staff voice.
  • Recording and responding to discriminatory incidents.
  • Ongoing staff training and professional development.

These equality objectives are reviewed annually to monitor progress and impact and are formally updated at least every three years, in line with Queensway School's Equality Policy.
