Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) Compliance
Queensway Primary School is committed to promoting equality and eliminating discrimination in line with the Equality Act 2010 and the Specific Duties Regulations 2011. We actively work to:
- Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
- Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
- Foster good relations across all characteristics.
We comply with the duty by:
- Publishing our Equality Policy.
- Publishing equality objectives and reviewing them annually.
- Considering equality implications in all decision-making, including curriculum planning, school trips, and recruitment.
Equality Objectives
Our current equality objectives are:
- Ensure all learners have equal access to a rich, broad, balanced and relevant curriculum.
- Eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation, ensuring no one is unfairly disadvantaged due to protected characteristics.
- Celebrate diversity and promote inclusion, fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding.
- Improve outcomes for pupils in statistically significant groups, including those with SEND, EAL, and those eligible for Pupil Premium.
- Ensure staff and governors are trained and aware of their responsibilities under the Equality Act.
These objectives are reviewed annually by the Governing Body and updated every four years, or sooner if required.
Monitoring and Reporting
We monitor progress through:
- Analysis of pupil performance and behaviour data.
- Recording and responding to discriminatory incidents.
- Equality Impact Assessments for key decisions.
- Staff training and development.
